You can either watch this little movie nitpicking all the clichés, plot holes and what not or sit back and enjoy it. I chose the latter. The actors are good, the sound is excellent, the story is bizarre, the military perspective is believable. The pace is spot on. It's a visual treat. Even the Ospreys are working. In fact, the one thing I found grossly silly is the «scientific» explanation at the end. Let's just say it's laughable. The scientist, played by James Badge Dale plays it straight and has all the life saving answers, and the equipment ready, at the appropriate times. His female counterpart, played by Emily Mortimer, seems at first mostly around for distraction, but turns out to be indispensable in the end. With her help, Mr Scientist saves the day, as expected. The movie reminded me at times of Ghostbusters (who you gonna call?), of any of James Bond silly scenarios or whatever SF collage of things you've seen before. Still, for what it's worth, it's not trying to be more than what it is. A tight little movie exciting to the end. And that's worth an 8 for me.
With HBO churning out quality TV shows and syfy channel taking care of the b movies, Netflix seem to have taken the lead to do quality TV movies. This is a good example of that.

With the tone and time set more to something like the TV show "Fringe" or the movie "Ex Machina" , meaning that it is very close to real science and real events, it felt really fresh for a sci-fi movie.

Darpa have in reality several things that have been science fiction for years, but now are a reality; armed robots, rail guns, heat rays and eye drops that makes you see in the dark , just to name a few things.

This movie ask a really good question, will the next military invention make the world and soldiers on the field safer ? Or will it be an pandoras box that could end all of humanity ?
